This Savannah, Georgia based society has been formed for the enjoyment of
its members and the education of the public in the keeping of orchids.
Some of the many society benefits include; monthly meetings, an informative
newsletter, an orchid resource library, a spring show as well as greenhouse
tours and guest speakers.
Monthly meetings include discussions of society business such as upcoming
shows both in and out of the immediate area. Also, we invite guest speakers
from all over the world to speak and give presentations. Educational
lectures on specific species' care and propagation, disease control, native
orchids, exhibiting, and many other topics are covered. Additionally monthly
meetings offer raffles for orchids, opportunities to contact buyers and
sellers, and a 'show and tell' of what the members have blooming!
Meetings are the second Monday of each month at 6:30 pm, at the Community Room,
#1106, in Savannah Mall, 14045 Abercorn Extension, Savannah, GA. Annual
membership dues are only $20.00 per year for an individual membership or $25.00
for a family membership. We are now offering a Lifetime Membership for
$100 individual or $160 family.

DSOS Annual Picnic

DSOS Annual Picnic will be held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Baker, i
on Sunday, June 26, 1: P.M. Watch for your invitation. And for those of you who haven't attended a meeting for a while, this is a good time to come back. We will have food, fellowship, games, raffles, orchids an all-around good time.
DSOS Annual Orchid Show will be March,23-25, located at Savannah Mall Center Court.

"Development of the Harlequin Phalanopsis"

On June 13th at 7:00pm located at Savannah Malls' Hospitality Room, West end of mall, ground level, next door to Liveoak Orchid,. Mr. Norman Fang will speak about "Development of the Harlequin Phalanopsis". Mr. Fang, a well know speaker, brings his knowledge on Ornamental Horticulture, Plant Tissue,and Culture, along with Judging and Exhibiting.
Mr. Fangs' exhibits have appeared in orchid shows all over the world; Asia, South Africa, San Francisco, Miami International, to mention a few. Norman is judge coordinator for the Taiwanese International Show, and is one of the founding members of the Phalenopsis Association. His judging knowledge makes him one of the most sought after judges in the orchid world.
Owner of Norman's Orchids in California, also his web sight, is a grower/donor to the Pacific South Judging Center and Society.

 Over the past few years a number of members have expressed an interest in having a t-shirt for our society. I have taken the liberty of submitting a logo design to an internet company that specializes in such items. Besides tees, they have other styles, sweatshirts, jackets and hoodies in Ladies, Mens, & Childrens, as well as coffee mugs, totes, mouse pads, etc.
